Get to Know Mrs. V.

I’m a Certified Reading Intervention Specialist with a heart for helping kids build strong, confident foundations in reading. I started my journey as a second grade teacher, spending six wonderful years in the classroom. After completing 60 hours of Texas Reading Academies and listening to the eye-opening podcast Sold a Story, I knew I had a bigger calling — to do more for children’s literacy.
For the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Reading Intervention Specialist, bringing my classroom experience and continued learning to support struggling readers. I’ve hosted summer phonics programs, earned additional certifications, and completed training focused on dyslexia, dysgraphia, and evidence-based reading instruction. Through my roles on school and district intervention teams, I’ve had the privilege of helping families navigate the special education process with knowledge and care.
At home, reading is part of our daily rhythm. My daughter will start school this fall already reading, and my three-year-old proudly writes his name and can identify several letters and sounds. Watching their love for learning grow reminds me every day why this work matters so much. I believe every child deserves the right tools, the right support, and the right encouragement to thrive — and I would love to be part of your child’s literacy journey.

Intake Assessments
A series of benchmark assessments allow me to unlock information about your child as a reader and writer and is crucial to individualizing support. An intake assessment is necessary to begin tutoring services and can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes. An in depth analysis of results and instructional recommendations are included and yours to take with you.
Your child may be assessed on the following skills:
Phonological and Phonemic Awareness
Letter/ Sound Knowledge
Alphabetic Decoding
High Frequency Word Knowledge (sometimes known as "Sight Word Knowledge")
Spelling Inventory

Individual Sessions
Following your child's intake assessment, we will begin individual tutoring sessions based on your child's current levels of achievement and need. Parents are invited to join their child during the session in order to better reinforce concepts taught at home.
Group sessions and rates are available; see the FAQ section.
